Tips and Gratitude
Your safari begins with a warm pick-up from your Nairobi city accommodation, followed by a detailed safari briefing before setting off towards the legendary Maasai Mara. Pause at the spectacular Great Rift Valley viewpoint to stretch, breathe in the vast landscapes and capture those first unforgettable photographs. Continue into the Mara, arriving at your camp or lodge in time for lunch and a little relaxation. Later, head out on your first afternoon game drive, where the golden light begins to transform the savannah and wildlife emerges from the afternoon heat. Keep watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and perhaps your first lion encounter before returning to camp for dinner and your first night beneath the African skies.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (L, D) | Bottled Water.
Rise early to the sounds of the African wilderness and choose between an unforgettable optional hot-air balloon safari or an extended morning game drive. From above, the Mara unfolds as an endless sea of golden grasslands, winding rivers and wildlife trails. If you remain on the ground, venture deep into the reserve on a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch in the wilderness, exploring the Mara's rich wildlife and dramatic landscapes. Expect encounters with elephants, buffalo, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles and the great cats that make this ecosystem famous. As the afternoon unfolds, return towards camp with an optional visit to a Maasai village for a glimpse into the traditions, culture and hospitality of one of Kenya's most celebrated communities.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
After breakfast, check out and bid farewell to the Mara as the journey continues towards Lake Nakuru. Along the way, enjoy opportunities to stretch, refresh and browse local curios for a meaningful keepsake of your Kenyan adventure. Arrive at your Lake Nakuru accommodation for lunch and a little relaxation before setting out on an exciting afternoon game drive inside Lake Nakuru National Park. Explore a landscape of acacia woodland, open grasslands and the shimmering lake, watching for rhinos, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, baboons and, with some luck, elusive leopards. The park's birdlife adds another layer to the experience, with countless species bringing movement and color to the shoreline. As the sun begins to soften over the lake, return to your lodge for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
Wake to breakfast before checking out and embarking on a final morning game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park. As you exit, keep watch for one last encounter with rhinos, giraffes, buffalo and the park’s abundant birdlife. Continue to Lake Naivasha, arriving in time for lunch and check-in. Later, glide across the tranquil lake on a boat safari, watching hippos’ surface and birds patrol the shoreline before stepping onto Crescent Island for a guided walking safari among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and gazelles. This intimate, vehicle-free experience brings you remarkably close to wildlife and is a highlight we highly recommend.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
After an early breakfast, venture into Hell’s Gate National Park, where towering cliffs, volcanic rock formations, deep gorges and sweeping grasslands create one of Kenya’s most dramatic landscapes. Explore the park on a guided wildlife experience, with the option to cycle through the wilderness alongside zebras, giraffes, buffalo and antelopes. Unlike traditional game drives, Hell’s Gate allows you to experience the landscape at ground level, making every turn feel like an adventure. After lunch, journey south towards Amboseli with scenic stops for refreshments and photographs before arriving for check-in and a well-earned evening of relaxation.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
Set out after breakfast for a full-day exploration of Amboseli National Park, with a packed picnic lunch allowing you to spend more time deep in the wilderness. Travel across open plains and seasonal wetlands beneath the magnificent presence of Mount Kilimanjaro, Kenya’s highest mountain. Amboseli is particularly famous for its large elephant herds, many of which can be seen moving across the plains with Kilimanjaro rising dramatically behind them. Keep watch for lions, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos and an impressive variety of birdlife before enjoying your picnic in the wild and continuing the adventure until late afternoon.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water
After breakfast and check-out, embark on a final morning game drive through Amboseli as you leave the park, giving you one more chance to encounter its magnificent wildlife beneath the morning light. Continue towards Tsavo West, arriving in time for lunch and check-in. After a short rest, head into the afternoon wilderness where volcanic landscapes, ancient lava flows, rugged hills and wildlife-rich plains create a dramatic setting. Search for elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelopes and predators while exploring one of Kenya’s most atmospheric parks. Return to camp as the wilderness settles into evening.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water
Leave Tsavo West after breakfast and begin your journey towards Tsavo East, with a game drive en route turning the transfer into another wildlife adventure. Arrive for lunch and check-in before heading out again into the vast eastern wilderness. Famous for its distinctive red earth, expansive savannah and legendary elephant herds, Tsavo East offers a rawer, more remote safari atmosphere. Follow dusty tracks through open plains and along seasonal watercourses in search of elephants, lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, gerenuk and abundant birdlife. As the African sun descends, return to your camp for dinner and overnight.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water
Rise early for breakfast before checking out and setting off on one final morning game drive as you exit Tsavo East. The cooler morning hours offer a final opportunity to encounter wildlife before the journey turns towards Nairobi. Leave the wilderness behind and continue through Kenya's changing landscapes, stopping along the way for refreshments, lunch and optional curio shopping. By late afternoon, arrive in the city and enjoy a convenient drop-off at your preferred location. Nine extraordinary days, six iconic destinations and countless wild memories later, The Great Kenyan Safari comes to its unforgettable close.
