Your Wild Crown of Kenya begins with a private pick-up and detailed safari briefing before heading towards the legendary Maasai Mara. Pause at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint for breathtaking panoramas and photographs before continuing through Kenya’s scenic countryside. Arrive at your Mara camp or lodge for lunch and relaxation, then venture into the savannah for your first game drive. As golden light sweeps across the plains, watch for elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo and the great cats before returning for dinner and overnight.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (L, D) | Bottled Water.
Rise before sunrise for an optional hot-air balloon safari, drifting silently above the Mara as the wilderness awakens below. Alternatively, set out on a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch in the wild. Follow winding tracks across open plains and riverine landscapes in search of lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, buffalo and countless plains animals. Later, an optional authentic Maasai village visit offers a glimpse into local traditions and community life before returning to camp as another unforgettable African sunset unfolds.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
After breakfast, check out and leave the Mara behind as the journey continues towards Lake Nakuru. Enjoy scenic stops for refreshments and optional curio shopping along the way before arriving at your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later, enter Lake Nakuru National Park for an afternoon wildlife adventure. Explore acacia woodland, open grasslands and the shimmering lake, home to around 450 bird species and renowned for its black and white rhinos. Keep watch for buffalo, zebra, giraffe, lions and more before dinner and overnight.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
After breakfast and check-out, journey into the cool highlands of the Aberdares, stopping along the way for refreshments and, where timing permits, a fascinating visit to Karatina, home to one of Kenya’s largest open-air markets. Continue into the forested mountains and arrive for lunch and check-in. Later, venture into the misty Aberdare wilderness, where towering forests, moorlands, waterfalls and deep ravines create a thrilling change of scenery. Keep watch for elephants, buffalo, giant forest hog, bushbuck, warthog, eland, red duiker, suni and reedbuck, while very rare sightings of the elusive mountain bongo, black serval or black leopard can turn the drive into a truly extraordinary encounter.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
After breakfast and check-out, journey towards Ol Pejeta with a refreshing stop around Nanyuki, perhaps pausing for views of Mount Kenya before continuing to the conservancy. Arrive for lunch and check-in, then head out on an afternoon game drive across 90,000 acres of diverse grassland, bush and riverine habitat. Search for rhinos, elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes and zebras, with Ol Pejeta holding over 165 eastern black rhinos and the last two northern white rhinos. Return to camp/ lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water.
Enjoy breakfast and check out before leaving Ol Pejeta for the rugged landscapes of Samburu. Stop around Nanyuki or Isiolo to stretch, refresh and capture photographs as the scenery transforms from green highlands to dry northern plains. Arrive at your Samburu accommodation for lunch, check-in and relaxation before your first afternoon game drive. Follow the Ewaso Ng’iro River and surrounding acacia country in search of elephants, lions, leopards and Samburu’s famous Special Five, namely: Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, Beisa oryx and Somali ostrich. You then return to Samburu accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
MEAL PLAN: FULL BOARD (B, L, D) | Bottled Water
Today, venture deeper into Samburu with a packed picnic lunch and a full-day exploration beyond the usual rhythms of a short game drive. Follow the Ewaso Ng’iro and its wildlife-rich banks, then push into the dry plains where animals have adapted to an unforgiving landscape. Look for the Special Five, alongside elephants, lions, leopards and cheetahs. Samburu has recorded more than 450 bird species, while research teams monitor over 900 elephants in the wider ecosystem. End the day watching the sun descend over the rugged northern horizon, as you return for dinner and overnight stay.
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before checking out and beginning the journey back towards Nairobi. As Samburu’s rugged hills and acacia plains disappear behind you, watch Kenya’s landscapes gradually transform on the road south. Pause along the way for refreshments, lunch and optional curio shopping, perhaps the perfect opportunity to choose a final keepsake from your safari. Arrive in Nairobi during the late afternoon and enjoy a convenient drop-off at your preferred location, bringing your eight-day journey from the Mara to Samburu to a memorable close.
